Accepting as they are : St.Joseph's acceptance
When the people around Joseph said Mary is pregnant and made fun of him for not waiting until marriage to get her pregnant, St.Joseph was confused first, doubted the information even could have validated the credibility of people who made fun of him. Over period of time he understands the information is True and he has been point of ridicule for no reason of him, felt ashamed of the situation, pained by heart to the injustice done to him by Mary. He always believed God would protect him and always longed for a simple life, now things have gone out of proportion and he is center of talking among the people around. More than the people talking he is worse to be felt cheated and made herself pregnant and he made to take the responsibility. In the first instance St.Joseph was not interested to marry at all, he wanted to conserve his virginity to God and be a unmarried man, at the insistence of the priest he volunteered to plant the sampling knowing that its not going to change anything in his life.
God's plans are so complex that we do not know why and what is happening around us, we cannot think smooth life if you are being close with God. we cannot question Why but accept it as it is, for the Will of God to be done on Earth.
Acceptance not by words but by Heart, at any circumstances and any worse situations, Extremely hard though.
St.Joseph even at this worse situation he didnt proclaim his innocence, he was a Silent man. He has his own way of thinking and taking the pain, even at this circumstances he did not blame Mary or called to inform everyone. He would have thought maybe someone could have abused her, someone must have promised to marry and cheated her or anything. Let me not Judge her for this condition, who am i to judge for i do not know what is the real reason and why should i judge, the best thing is to move away into silence and solitary life again. I believe God will not put me to shame or trouble, he has informed me much early that i can move out and avoid getting into this uncomfortable marriage and breach of trust.
In Silence and secret that no one will know or ridicule Mary for her condition, let people believe that Joseph has cheated her, at least Mary will have a reason to live in this world rather dying of Stoning for the Criminal Sin she has committed. St.Joseph was such a pure man that he was willing to take blame for Mary's Pregnancy, yet what he could not accept or understand was "Why him ", why all this to me?, what have i done? who did i cheat or spoil anyone's life. Was it a curse which my forefathers have passed through or is it a punishment which God want to give me? Why me?
When we feel so confused, being in Silence and moving away from everything is the best solution, we can or may consider multiple things in our mind, but if it is the will of God we will never be alone. He never allows his faithful servants to be shamed by people. For it is God who is working through them, it may look bad in front of people but in God's presence the work is considered most important and pure.
When we move to silence and prayer in times of our hard times accepting the fate of us as it is, we have to believe we are not alone and God is working through us and for us. He will not allow us to make any bad mistakes in our life, though we consider many things to streamline of lives and save our face in front of the people or substantiate we are not to be mistaken and its not our fault. God helps us to go through the pain with acceptance and whole hearted.
St.Joseph was counselled by an Angel about the pregnancy of Mother Mary and it is Most High God who wants his own Son to be born on Earth for the sake of Redemption of Mankind and it is through God's Spirit. He understands the responsibility of him to protect God's Son, Spirit and Mary. It is too much for him to accept it, he is just a poor carpenter who has no intention of marriage , save fortune. All he is interested is God and prayers and complete Surrender to him. The Angle like mary did not ask his acceptance, for the Angel knows it is his responsibility which he has to accept without question and there is no one God has chosen but Him. The Angel came , said and went. Look at the confidence God has kept on this man, look at the Divine providence of choosing a Man, Pious, Just, uncorrupted heart, not greedy for anything on earth be it food or money or any worldly possessions. The kind of responsibility he will need to see is so risky and tough, infront of the eyes of people he has to accept that it is his child Mary is carrying, take her to different places getting her all that she needs until child birth. Running from country to country in protect the child, feed the child and family. Giving all in his strength to make the God's son gain education, knowledge, transferring what he learnt to him. Being an Exceptional father that the world sees that the Son is first living like a father, then after sometime Son goes beyond what his father was and Redeem the World.
